Gathering for Palestine Book

Friends,

Following the success of and response to our recent poetry evening we want to include you in an ambitious plan to create our own ‘Gathering For Palestine’ book.

As well as meaning the assembly or coming together of a group of people a gathering is also the oldest method of producing a book by binding loose leaves together.

Our plan is to create our own Southport Friends of Palestine ‘Gathering’, created from the writings, poems, letters and artwork from your submissions. These will be printed and bound to produce a lasting volume that we can keep and sell to raise funds for the charities we support and for Southport Friends of Palestine.

The book will be launched at our own physical Gathering, where the contributors will be invited to read or talk about their work and we can share our thoughts.

The first stage is to collect submissions from anyone interested so please send anything you would like to be considered for inclusion to the email address below by the closing date of 31st December 2024. southportfriendsofpalestine@gmail.com

These submissions can be either written or drawn and reflect any of your thoughts, memories and meditations on Palestine, past, present or future. They should be in black and white and no larger than a landscape format A5 piece of paper; for prose please keep to 250 words; for poetry in the form of one or two columns with a maximum of 25 lines per column.

We have no idea of the number of submissions so we will be collating these and then finalising the cost of printing and the publication schedule in the New Year, at which point we will give you more details on the physical Gathering itself.

* All work must be original and your own and by submitting it, whilst you will retain the copyright, you are giving your consent for its potential publication for the purposes outlined above. Please be conscious that, as this work is intended to be published, we may not be able to include anything of a defamatory or prohibited nature.
