Why are we still here?

You may be wondering why we are still here, standing out on the street on a Saturday, as we have done fortnightly for over a year now.

A ceasefire has been announced between Israel and Hamas...

So it’s all over, isn’t it?

Hostages and prisoners are being freed. Everything can soon go back to normal.

IT IS NOT OVER!

Gaza is in ruins and Palestinians in the West bank continue to live under Israel’s military occupation with restricted movement and violence...

  • Hospitals demolished

  • Homes destroyed

  • Thousands of Palestinians detained without charge

  • Movement restricted

  • Children left orphaned

  • Palestinians still being killed

  • Education system dismantled

  • Hundreds of thousands left injured or disabled

  • Bodies under rubble

  • Violence from Israeli settlers

This fragile ceasefire may not be permanent - there are members of Netanyahu’s cabinet who wish to return to “war”.

PERMANENT CEASEFIRE NOW!

There is damning evidence from many well - respected human rights organisations that war crimes have been committed and we need to ensure that justice is carried out.

JUSTICE FOR ALL!

There is conflict and violence in the West Bank with both Israeli settlers and soldiers behaving with impunity.

END THE OCCUPATION NOW!

Along with activists all over the world Southport Friends of Palestine will continue to campaign for:

  • The end to the military occupation by Israel of Palestine

  • The right for the Palestinians to determine their own future

  • The right to return or for reparation of homes and land lost
